Product Advantage

BN150 Banyan Industrial Application Server is small and portable, users can easily place a BN150 in any place where computing power and services is needed. BN150 Banyan Industrial Application Server is also very suitable for the applications as a small ERP server, a small web server, a surveillance server or a small database server for the small sized business and personal studio.

BN150 Banyan Industrial Application Server using the TI AM3352 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 application processor and 1GB DDR3 SDRAM, provides fast, robust and low power consumption computing power.

BN150 Banyan Industrial Application Server uses headless design without a local display, therefore reduces the cost of associated hardware and software. On the one hand it reduces the overhead of local display, significantly enhances the performance of the server itself; on the other hand it further reduces power consumption, costs, and equipment space of the server.


Purpose

To get a better understanding of the power consumption of BN150, we recorded the voltage and current of BN150-01 Banyan Non-real-time Headless Industrial Application Server and BN150-02 Banyan Real-time Headless Industrial Application Server under different conditions with a multimeter. Users can get to know the low power consumption advantages and product benefits from the analysis and conclusion of the product note.

During this power consumption test, BN150 was used as a web server installed with the Drupal database, and we observed the voltage and current data on the multimeter when BN150 was in use.

Analysis and Discussion

According to the recorded results, the whole power consumption is as low as 2 watts and up to 5 watts when BN150 works as a web server providing basic web formats and contents. In this case, the power consumption of BN150-01 Banyan Non-real-time Headless Industrial Application Server (with Wi-Fi module) is higher then others. And the power consumption of BN150-02 Banyan Real-time Headless Industrial Application Server power consumption (with Gigabit wired network) is the lowest.

The results were caused by the Wi-Fi module with high power consumption, therefore BN150 with Wi-Fi module consumed more electricity. In contrast with the other groups, BN150-02 Banyan Real-time Headless Industrial Application Server without HDD supports the function of a server with eMMC, and it adopts Gigabit wired network, so the whole power consumption is lower.
